What do you think?

Happy New Year everyone! So, we're now into our second season at Scout & Co, which is very exciting. A couple of things to talk about…

1. We're off on our travels over the next month or so (Stockholm, Paris and er, other parts of London) to source lots of lovely new things for the site. And we'd love to get your opinions before we go. What would you like to see more of / new on Scout & Co? More clothing and accessories? More decor or textiles? More toys? Perhaps you have a favourite or new brand that you'd love us to get in. We'd love to know what you think! Email us at mail@scoutandcokids.com or chat with us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

2. We're clearing some space for all those lovely new spring collections with our sale – all AW13 clothing now half price! Do check out our brilliant bargains here, including Ruff and Huddle tees for £9, the very last few The Bright Company PJs for £10 and La Loi leggings now under £20. Cubebots are here!

Cubebots are the latest arrivals on our site and our newest obsession. These moveable robots are created by David Weeks Studio for Brooklyn's Areaware design collective and are based on Japanese Shinto Kumi-ki puzzles. Made from beechwood, they can hold dozens of poses, before folding down into a neat little cube when you want to store them away. They're robust little chaps too, with clever elastic band joints. Available in lots of cool colours, they're an awesome gift for Christmas (hello, stocking filler!), or of course, all year round. Check 'em out here and watch this brilliant video.

Why, thank you!

We were thrilled to see Scout & Co featured in super-stylish blog, The Mini Post last week. Bookmark the site for brilliant kids' fashion (including adorable pics of The Mini One – cherry DMs, amazing) and tips on the coolest places to hang out. We knew we'd love the site from the About Us page: 'We aint no yummy mummy, mummy blogger or domestic goddess. You are more likely to find us in Shoreditch House, waiting for the net-a-porter sale and people watching about London'. YES!

Read what they said about us here and see their cool picks from the site (excellent taste, obviously).

A few of our favourite things

Of course it goes without saying that we really like all the lovely products on our site (well, we did pick everything, after all) – but each of us has a few items that are right at the top of our wish list.

Here's what we especially love and why…

FIAMMA'S WISH LIST

1. Sarah Elwick's neon blanket – I love its gorgeous pattern, use of colour and soft yarn. I just wish I could have one big enough to cover my bed.

2. Beau Loves spotty sweatshirt is fun, cool and comfy! What more could you want from a sweatshirt?

3. Lisa Jones Studio's bat card – maybe because it's Halloween or maybe just because I like anything a bit spooky – and PINK!

GEMMA'S WISH LIST

1. Fine Little Day Pirum Parum and Apple Papple posters – I'm cheating a bit as this was meant to be a top 3, but I love these posters as a pair and will be ordering some for Hella's room. The characters remind me of James and the Giant Peach.

2. Robin & Mould's Sleepy Dog Pillow is a robust little thing – the perfect size for a small chair or a small bottom – and he looks good with our 60s teak eBay finds.

3. Stuf Robin toy is my third pick, which is funny because he was my least favourite of our Stuf range before I saw him in real life, but he's very cute. I'll be giving him to any new babies that arrive (apart from yours, Fiamma – will keep that present a surprise for now!).

NICKY'S WISH LIST

1. Mibo for Coq en Pâte penguin backpack – it's tricky to single out one of these, but the little penguin chap is very pleasing to the eye. And if I get it for Anna, then it's not technically adding to my own large collection of backpacks, right?

2. Little Red Stuga's Bu! blankets are a lovely, quirky idea – comfort blanket and peekaboo game in one. Yay! I especially like the Pirate one illustrated by Will Broome. I've always regretted not buying his Wedgwood crockery so now's my chance to nab one of his designs.

3. Christopher Franceschelli's Alphablock - this chunky alphabet book has brilliant, bold graphics and a great tactile feel. Anna loves story time at the moment, and I know she'll enjoy turning the cutout pages.

Hello & welcome

We're open for business! Several months in the making and many
late nights/Cornettos/business meetings over the background
noise of rowdy toddlers later, we're thrilled to welcome you to
  Scout & Co.
You can read more about what we're all about here, but in a
nutshell, we've curated a unique selection of beautifully designed
products for kids and families from our favourite brands across
unisex clothing, decor, textiles and toys (yeah, we want to keep it
all). We're really excited to be bringing you exclusives from
Denmark and the US, plus all kinds of brilliant things designed and
made in Britain and cool picks from Scandinavia.
There's much more to come, too. We'll keep you posted about new arrivals landing on site, including our own line of kids' tees and prints, plus brilliant collaborations with two of our favourite illustrators.

And finally, big thanks to everyone who's helped us launch the site, especially:

  • Caroline Nitsch (design)
  • Jon Baker (photography)
  • Miriam Brent (wordsmith)
  • Our other halves: Philip Westbury (technical wizardry), Nico Skov (finance pro and our Danish connection) and Matthew Crowley (creative and branding expert).
  • And of course, the littlest members of the Scout & Co team who inspired this whole thing: Wolfe (4), Viggo (nearly 2), Anna (16 months), Hella (11 weeks) and Wolfe's little brother set to arrive next month!

We'd love to hear what you think of the site, so do email us at hello [at] scoutandcokids.com or say hello on our Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram
